What kind of steel is used for hydraulic cylinders?

Hydraulic Cylinder mainly contains cylinder barrel, piston rod, cylinder cover, piston.

Cylinder head
Casting is used for low pressure, HT300 gray iron for medium and low pressure, and 35 or 45 steel for medium and high pressure.
When the cylinder head itself is the guide sleeve of the piston rod, it is better to use cast iron for the cylinder head. At the same time, should be in the guide surface melt stacked brass, bronze or other wear-resistant materials. If the cylinder head is pressed into the structure of the guide sleeve, the guide sleeve should be wear-resistant cast iron, bronze or brass.
Piston
Common materials are wear-resistant cast iron, gray cast iron (HT300, HT350), steel and aluminum alloy.
Piston and piston rod coaxiality tolerance value should be 0.03mm.
Cylinder barrel
Commonly used material is 20, 35, 45 seamless steel pipe, the steel pipe is honed or rolled to reach the roughness requirement within 0.4μm. The low pressure cylinder can be made of No.20 steel pipe, and the high pressure cylinder is made of No.45 steel pipe.
Piston rod
There are two kinds of piston rod: solid rod and hollow rod. One end of hollow piston rod needs to be left with ventilation hole for welding and heat treatment. solid piston rod material is 35, 45 steel, and hollow piston rod material is 35, 45 seamless steel pipe.

Piston rod rough machining after tempering to India for 229 ~ 285HB, if necessary, and then by high-frequency quenching, hardness of 45 ~ 55HRC.
